So what are matchstick blinds? These are window coverings (blinds) that consist of a number of horizontally set smooth, uniform bamboo wood sticks. These blinds get their name because the bamboo sticks that are used are rounded just like matchsticks. However there can be some with rough, irregular sticks but those should be taken as more of an exception than a norm. These days Matchsticks blinds are also available in natural wood materials other than bamboo. These are rattan, jute and other woods woven together with naturally occurring grass.
Now a quick look at how Matchstick blinds can be easily trimmed: The first step is to bunch up the whole blind in to layers. Now measure your window to determine how much needs to be trimmed. Divide the number by two and whatever the number put marks of that at equal distance from the ends of your blind sticks. Now carefully transfer the cut mark on to each blind stick using a measuring and masking tape. Next, use a saw blade with firm hands giving out even motion to cut at the marks made previously. Now deliberately undo the masking tape and your customized blind is ready for hanging up! One note of precaution: Keep the blind cords out of your way while cutting, lest you damage them in the process.
Material: In the market you can find window blinds in wide variety of material ranging from fabric to aluminum, wooden to vinyl. And you must not forget that there is no blind in the market which you can say that it is perfect but you can select the material of the blind according to your needs and specification. There are two things which you must consider before selecting the material of your blind. Firstly you must think of your budget. And secondly you must think of which type of texture does you prefer? You must also make sure that the material which you have selected for your window blind must fit well with the decor of your room.
If you look at the various blinds for conservatories, we can split them into two categories, roof blinds and window blinds, already discussed in the previous paragraph. The easier, in terms of safety is roof blinds as they are fitted up high and working either with remote control or using a control wand so that there are no looped parts within reach and no control cords to worry about. Pleated roof blinds and woodweave, also known as pinoleum, blinds fit nicely into this category. The one existing style of roof blind that you need to be aware of are manually operated roof roller blinds, as these require looped control cords to operate them open and closed. Of course these controls can be installed out of reach and neatly organized away from young hands using either a cleat or cord tidy. When it comes to Conservatory Blinds and young children, it is important that this is done at all times necessary - when a risk exists.
