Recently there has tragically been a number of deaths of young children attributed to strangulation by blind cords. Various high-profile organizations up to government level have come onboard to support a campaign called ’Make it Safe’ initiated by the BBSA, the British Blind and Shutter Association, of which Blind Technique are members. This campaign aims to eliminate the risk of strangulation with looped blind cords and controls through education, keeping these cords away from children at all times or if not possible by introducing various safety designs which mitigate the risk. It is highlighted that the only sure way to totally eliminate the risk is to keep all control cords out of reach, and to otherwise fit blinds without any non-control looped tapes, cords or designs.
Window blinds can be overwhelming by the styles and the variety that are available on the market but to break it down to the simplest terms a blind whether you call it a Roman roller blind or festoon blind is simply just a piece of fabric which you have hung at the top of the window, Which you can pull up or adjust slats to allow light in or keep light out. Window blinds clear up space around windows making them the best window treatment idea for cluttered areas, which would include bathrooms blinds and kitchens blinds. A great character of the blind is the ability to completely change the feel by the use of the fabric which it’s made with, A Roman blind using a sheer voile will filter the room light gently and we’ll give you a contemporary blind look. Using the same blind style with a rich damask and a lining should block the light efficiently and will flatter a beautiful warm Style room. By adding trim or maybe shaping the edges of the window treatment will add interest and some nice style in your rooms décor, whether you use a prestige festoon for you blind or a basic roller blind you will be able to find a creative blind treatment for any window in your home.

As far as the overall look is concerned, matchstick blinds look ethnic, organic, traditional yet modern, and blend with any setting they are put up in. These mostly come in light color woods but are now increasingly available in many different shades. These are uniformly linear on both the sides, so even as you get a beautiful look at it from inside, even those looking at it from outside will see a good sight. This can be especially useful if you have it up on the window leading to your garden. So, even while you are seated outside your home, the backside of the blind won’t be jarring to your eye. Also Matchstick blinds come in different textures. If you go for a smooth texture, it will give the room a cleaner, simpler look while a rough one will give it a natural, rustic feel of other types of french door blinds.
