Starting off by looking at window blinds as they have many more options and are therefore somewhat more complicated and of course lower down, potentially within reach. Some blinds are better than others. Any blind that has a control cord is a risk. When this is unavoidable consider the option of individual non-looped controls, cleats, a cord tidy or tension pulley. To eliminate or reduce the risk some good options to bare-in-mind are, spring operated roller blinds, pleated blinds operated by a friction system, using a wand control instead of a cord control for vertical blinds, perfect-fit roller blinds, remote-controlled blinds. Beware of vertical blinds as these are connected at the bottom with a chain, and venetian blinds particularly those with a larger slat where little heads could easily fit through. Most importantly is to be aware that a danger exists and to either remove the risk or to supervise all young children at all times.
Let us talk innovation now. Matchstick blinds work magic on their own, but if you need something extra for your room, try using them along with other drapes, curtains and even shades. When used in the right combination, it can make your room look really sophisticated and also be everybody’s envy. And if you are the artistic kind, nothing like it; you can personalize your very own matchstick blinds. You can add a design with a stencil or hand or spray paint it according to whatever theme that your room may be complying to. You can even use your favorite colors or the dominant color of your room to create a theme. If you are using it in your child’s bedroom, draw fun characters and shapes or use pastel colors to give it a light kiddie look.
Before we discuss blinds, let’s try to understand the two basic types of insulation. Reflective insulation refers to insulation that is lined with a heat and cold reflecting material, while bulk insulation refers to the use of a thick material that prevents hot and cold air from entering your home. The insulation used in most buildings utilizes a combination of reflective and bulk insulation; and while you probably don’t want to use this kind of material as a window covering, the principles of insulating blinds are the same.
Mixing window blinds and other styles and types of window treatments will allow you to be more versatile in your window decor ideas. To have necessary privacy along with light exclusion you would have a blind in a thick fabric along with curtains just for decoration if you want. Why not combined at floaty voile full-length curtain and a thick textured blind or maybe a splash of some more curious fabric only allowing it for dress curtains only. By draping a scarf or maybe a decorative shawl on some swag holders will soften the blinds lines. These ideas are more economical than the conventional drapery window coverings.
